NEW YORK CALIFORNIA ANNOUNCED A PROPOSAL TO SECEDE FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

New York  California has announced a proposal, called “Calexit” that would establish it as a separate nation from the U.S., officials have said.
The proposal for California to secede from the U.S. was submitted to the Secretary of State’s office according to a report.
The proposed “Calexit” initiative was a name borrowed from the UK’s “Brexit” departure from the EU.
“Calexit” would ask voters to repeal part of the state constitution that declares California an inseparable part of the U.S.
A recent poll found that one in three California residents would support a possible secession from the U.S. due to their opposition to President Donald Trump, according to the proposal.
No mention has been made of the president in the proposal.
If the proposal qualifies for the ballot and is approved by voters, it could be a step to a future vote on whether the state would break away from the rest of the nation.
Secretary of State Alex Padilla said the group behind the proposal, ‘Yes California Independence Campaign’, was cleared to begin attempting to collect nearly 600,000 voter signatures needed to place the plan on the ballot.
“In our view, the United States of America represents so many things that conflict with Californian values.
“And our continued statehood means California will continue subsidising the other states to our own detriment, and to the detriment of our children,” the Yes California Independence Campaign’s website says.

EKITI STATE GOVERNOR AYODELE FAYOSE HAS WARNED DSS TO STOP PLANNING AGAINST MEN IF GOD IN THE COUNTRIES

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has warned the Department of State Services (DSS) over the planned detention and trial of Apostle Johnson Suleiman of The Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide and the General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide International (Winners’ Chapel International), Bishop David Oyedepo, describing it as indirect invitation to religious crisis in the country.

Governor Fayose alleged that; “There is plan to charge Apostle Suleiman and Bishop Oyedepo for incitement and attempt to cause public disorder on Friday, and make sure that they are not granted so to get them remanded in Kuje Prison perpetually.”
He said this plan was to humiliate these men of God as well as silence them and create fear in other people that may want to speak against the heinous crime against humanity being committed daily while perpetrators are being shielded by the federal government.
In a statement issued on Sunday by is Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said the DSS should tell Nigerians how many of the Fulani herdsmen that killed thousands of Nigerians across the country have been arrested before going after Nigerians who merely expressed their frustration over the to failure of the federal government to protect them.
The governor said; “Even though the DSS has allowed commonsense to prevail by properly inviting Apostle Suleiman as against the gestapo manner with which the service attempted to abduct him last week Wednesday, it is still questionable that the DSS is more interested in a man who threatened to defend himself against any attack by Fulani herdsmen rather than those herdsmen that murdered thousands of
Nigerians.
The governor said; “it is sad and worrisome that after muzzling opposition politicians, judiciary and the press, the APC led federal government has taking its desperation to suppress dissenting voices in the country to the House of God.”
Governor Fayose maintained that; “If the DSS had acted swiftly like it is doing on Apostle Suleiman so-called inciting comments when people were being killed by herdsmen across the country, so many lives would have been saved.”
He advised the government and the DSS not to go ahead with these plans as it will heat up the polity and threaten the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians, calling on well meaning Nigerians to prevail on the federal government to desist from acts capable of throwing the country into further crisis.
Governor Fayose, who reiterated his call for the release of the head of Nigeria’s Islamic Movement (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, who has been in detention since late 2015 despite that the court ruled that he should be released, affirmed that “he will continue to stand for Nigeria and its people, not for any religion and it is my position that rights of all Nigerians must be respected and protected.”
The governor urged the APC led federal government to pay attention to the economy it destroyed, with the aim to revamping it and saving Nigerians from the hunger ravaging the land.
“Nigeria is already being ravaged by war of hunger, economic recession, job loss and lack of leadership direction. It will be disastrous for the country to be plunged into religious crisis.
“Apart from during the civil war, Nigerians have not been badly divided as a nation as we are under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. Killings under this government in 18 months are more than what was witnessed in the last 20 years,” the governor said.

HERDSMEN STORMED AJEGBE VILLAGE.

herdsmen stormed neigbouring Ajegbe village, where they grazed their cattle and destroyed farmlands.
The source said: “From there they moved into Ipiga village yesterday morning, shooting sporadically, though they met a stiff resistance from the locals.
“A bloody fight erupted; two of the herdsmen were reportedly killed, while about 13 of the villagers were also killed. However, many are still missing and unaccounted for.”

When contacted, the Senior Special Assistant to Benue State Governor on Fulani Matters, Alhaji Garus Gololo, said two herdsmen were killed in the crisis.
Gololo said: “I just came back from the area this afternoon (yesterday). Two herdsmen were killed by the villagers and many cows were also killed; others were rustled.
“I met the Ardo of the area and everyone has been warned against any form of reprisal attack and there was nothing like that because government had warned against this kind of crisis in the state.
“Though the body of one of the dead herdsmen has been recovered and is reportedly with the police, the search for the other is still ongoing.”
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Moses Yamu said he was yet to receive detail of the crisis.

NIGERIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION.

THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may have turned down a request from the Confederation of African Football, CAF to bail it out and host the 2017 edition of the African U-17 Championship.
CAF had last week stripped Madagascar of the right to host the championship even as it had not made any concrete arrangement for another host.
A reliable source at the NFF informed Sports  federation received a letter from the continental body requesting it to bail it out by staging the competition scheduled to take place later in the year.

“Yes we have received a letter from CAF but there is nothing we can do to help them because we know the prevailing situation in the country. In fact that would have presented us in a very bad light before Nigerians.”
The executive committee of CAF had met last Thursday in Libreville, Gabon and announced the withdrawal of the hosting right from Madagascar; a development many analysts believe is a way of getting back at the president of the Malagasy Football Federation, Ahmad Ahmad who is the only candidate that will contest the presidency of CAF with the age long incumbent, Issa Haytou.
Hayatou a Cameroonian had been in charge of CAF since 1998 and despite a change of its bylaws last September to limit the tenure of its officers, CAF tactically left a window for him run again and if he expectedly wins, will be in office till 2021.

UNITED STATES PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP ORDER TO RESTRICT ARRIVALS FROM SEVEN MUSLIM COUNTRIES.

Iranians and Iraqis planning to fly to the United States were prevented from boarding on Saturday after US President Donald Trump’s order to restrict arrivals from seven Muslim countries.
Iran slammed the “insulting” ban and said it would reciprocate.
On Friday Trump signed a sweeping executive order to suspend the arrival of refugees and impose tough new controls on travellers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.
His move sparked widespread international criticism.
Travellers from the Middle East were stopped from boarding US-bound planes.
Some who were already in the air when Trump signed the executive order were detained on arrival, the New York Times reported.
In Tehran, two travel agencies told AFP they had been instructed by Etihad Airways, Emirates and Turkish Airlines not to sell US tickets or allow Iranians holding American visas to board US-bound flights.
An Iranian studying in California said she could not now return because her ticket had been cancelled under the new restrictions.
“I had a ticket for Turkish Airlines on February 4, but it has been cancelled,” the girl, who did not wish to be identified, told AFP in Tehran.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani did not comment directly on the ban Saturday, but criticised Trump, saying that now was “not the time to build walls between nations”.
Iran’s foreign ministry said it would “respond in kind after the insulting decision of the United States concerning Iranian nationals” until the measure is lifted.
It said the decision was “illegal, illogical and contrary to international rules”.
More than a million Iranians live in the United States.

In Khartoum, the Sudanese foreign ministry expressed its “regret” at the US ban.
On Saturday in Egypt, a country not included in the new restrictions, an Iraqi couple and their two children were told they could not board an EgyptAir flight from Cairo to New York.
Airport officials said the four Iraqis all had American visas.
The New York Times reported that two Iraqi refugees were detained on arriving at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport hours after Trump signed the order.
On Saturday, the American Civil Liberties Union and other advocacy groups filed a legal challenge to Trump’s order.
Lawyers representing the Iraqi pair also filed a court appeal for their release, saying they were being unlawfully detained.
The United Nations responded by urging Trump to continue his country’s “long tradition” of welcoming refugees and to ensure their equal treatment, regardless of race, nationality or religion.
French President Francois Hollande said Europe must have a “firm response” to Trump, and “when he refuses the arrival of refugees, while Europe has done its duty, we have to respond”.
Hollande was due to speak with Trump later Saturday.
In Lebanon, Syrian refugees struggling to get by in makeshift camps bemoaned their fate.
“What on earth have the Syrian people done to deserve this?” asked Abu Mahmoud al-Ghol, at one informal camp in the Marj area.
“And to think it’s a democratic country doing it,” the 44-year-old said.

Nearly six years of conflict in Syria have driven more than half the population from their homes, with many fleeing abroad and dreaming of new lives in the West.
Trump’s executive order specifically says no visas will be issued for 90 days to migrants or visitors from the seven Muslim-majority countries.
It also bars Syrian refugees from the United States indefinitely, or until Trump himself decides that they no longer pose a threat.
His decree suspends the entire US refugee resettlement programme for at least 120 days while tough new vetting rules are established.
Qatar Airways, which flies to around 15 American cities, said it would abide by the new regulations, adding however that passengers who have “the proper documentation” will be able to fly.
An alert on its website said citizens of the seven barred countries could travel to the US if they have permanent residency there.
Government officials and their immediate family are exempt from the travel restrictions along with representatives of international organisations, the Gulf carrier said.
Trump’s move has also angered one of Iran’s most popular actresses, Taraneh Alidoosti who stars in the Oscar-nominated “The Salesman”.
She said she would boycott next month’s Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
“Trump’s visa ban for Iranians is racist,” she tweeted. “Whether this will include a cultural event or not, I won’t attend the #AcademyAwards 2017.”

ARMED ROBBERS STORMED THE HIGH COURT.

Two persons are feared dead, while no fewer than 56 suspected criminals are now on the run, when dare devil armed robbers stormed the High Court premises Friday, and rescued one of their own simply identified as Vampire.
The news men gathered that the rampaging hoodlums gained entrance into the premises, in a sports utility vehicle, SUV, shot the armed prison official, as soon as the suspects were ready to be moved into the respective courtrooms, where their cases were scheduled for hearing.
A lawyer, who was at the scene, as the rescue mission successfully played out, said that the gangsters were fully prepared for the onslaught.
“The gangsters were fully prepared for the rescue mission. Their gunshots hit an armed prison personnel and one of the suspects”, the lawyer recalled.
Continuing, the lawyer said that there was total confusion in the premises, as the robbers fired sporadically from virtually all corners.
“People scampered into safety. Some of the accused persons equally ran away for their life. I ran into the toilet room in the Bar Centre”, the lawyer said.

APC LEADER ASIWAJU BOLA TINUBU HAS URGED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO GET NIGERIA OUT OF RECESSION.

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has urged the Federal Government to get Nigeria out of recession by urgently reviewing its monetary policies.
Tinubu spoke on Wednesday as a guest lecturer at the National Defence College Course 25, titled, “Strategic Leadership: My Political Experiences.”
He argued that Nigeria’s current inflation rate of 18 per cent was unbearable and that Nigerians were suffering for it.
He said, “In the situation we face, deficit spending is essential to bolster aggregate demand and direct funds to projects that build infrastructure and bolster employment. We must better harmonise monetary policy with fiscal policy. It undercuts our goals if monetary policy is unduly tight at a time when fiscal policy begets deficit spending.
“We must also realign trade policy with our need to create a meaningful industrial base and more potent agricultural sector. We can no longer allow cheap imports to preclude the development of industries and sectors strategic to our enduring economic future.
“What am I doing if I have a billion, and you are ready to give me 180 million, that is 18 per cent upfront, do I have to work or do anything again? These are the factors they have to look at quickly to ease the monetary policy.
“You have to stimulate this economy, you have to spend yourself out of this recession and you cannot do that by consistently stifling the banks of liquidity. It is their money; it is their saving. We have to criticise ourselves when it is necessary, speak truth to power.
“We are the power, we speak truth to ourselves. The monetary policy must be consistent with the environmental need of our domestic requirements, you cannot hold on too much or too tight to a policy.”
Tinubu added that the leadership of the APC was right to criticise the Federal Government, because “when it is necessary, speak truth to the power, we are the power, we will talk the truth to ourselves.”
“Our fiscal policy does not mesh with monetary policy. Trade policy undermines industrial policy, thus the ease of doing business is inhibited. Overseas peacekeeping missions do not always harmonise with core foreign policy interests. A nation in progress seeks to minimise, not harvest additional contradictions, otherwise its leadership strategy is doomed to fail.
“Strategic objectives during this period of economic uncertainty must be to re-engineer the economy bottom up, diversify the economic base, strengthen our industrial base, modernise infrastructure, enhance agriculture, and provide employment and of course, ease of doing business,” he added.

DSS HAS UNCOVERED PLOT BY A SOUTH SOUTH GOVERNOR.

Department of State Security Services (DSS) on Wednesday said it has uncovered plot by a South-south governor to subvert the Federal Government.
The governor, under investigation, was also accused of sponsoring violent demonstrations.
Reacting to a protest on Monday by ‘Lawyers in Defence of Democracy’, a DSS official told The Nation that the group had a hidden agenda.
“The Monday protest by the so called Lawyers in Defence of Democracy was misplaced.
“We believe that that protest by the group, claiming to be acting on behalf of some aggrieved lawyers and Human Rights activists, has other hidden motives.
“The protesters’ main grouse was that some lawyers who are members of their group are being detained by the DSS. I wish to state categorically that no lawyer is in our custody. I repeat, no lawyer is being detained in DSS custody.
“The names like Ugochukwu Apumaga, Emeka Dibia and Ejike Nwachukwu that were paraded on Monday by the protesters as members of their group are not lawyers.
“They were arrested by the service for their role in the botched moves by a South-South Governor to orchestrate violent demonstration with inciting and subversive posters.
”Ikenga Ugochukwu was arrested with the trio. This is no longer secret because it was made public by the Service.
“In any case, the Service is not known to be in denial of any arrest it had ever made as it always avail members of the public of those it arrested and the reasons.
“It is therefore curious and even strange if these organizations being mentioned are not pseudo organizations being used by Ikenga, to carry out paid jobs.
“As far as the Service is concerned, there is no lawyer in detention and if these persons mentioned are lawyers, it will be helpful if any discerning person can inform the Nigerian public when they were called to the Bar or which law schools or Universities they attended.”
The DSS further attributed calls for the removal of its DG to the alleged subterranean activities of the governor.

KADUNA STATE GOVERNOR NASIR El- RUFAI HAS TWEETED A HATE SPEECH TO APOSTLE JOHNSON SULEMAN AND NO DSS ORDER HIS ARREST.

The founder of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has wondered why the Department of State Security Service, DSS, attempted to arrest him over his alleged ‘hate speech.’
He said Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai had tweeted a hate speech and no one arrested him.
Recall that apostle Suleman had allegedly asked his members to kill any Fulani herdsman they find around his church premises.
Following his comment, the DSS attempted to arrest him in the early hours of Wednesday but Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, foiled the attempt.
As the attempted arrest continues to spark up controversies across the country, the apostle went into Twitter archives and dug out a ‘hate speech’ by El-Rufai and wondered why he was not arrested.

El-Rufai had tweeted: “We will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes.”
But the Apostle tweeted: “It’s not a religious issue but one against crime. I have Fulani friends and they hate the killings by these herdsmen and support self defence.
“Every Christian should stay calm and not comment like those who have no understanding of the issues. People believe wat they think is right. I love you all.
“You won’t open your eyes and watch someone kill you. Don’t go for them but if dey come around you to kill you, defend yourself.. that’s my stand.
“He posted that and nothing happened..those talking now kept quiet..many countless hate speeches by many..I simply said defend yourself

NPC BILL PASS BY THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.

The National Commandant of the Nigerian Peace Corps, Dr Dickson Akoh, on Thursday, expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari would do justice to the newly passed NPC Bill by the National Assembly by assenting it, for prompt implementation.
“The greatest challenge in this country today is unemployment. So, I am optimism that the President would do justice to the bill”, Akoh said.
Akoh, who was addressing the joint Press Corps of both Chambers of the National Assembly, following the consolidation of the NPC Bill by the Conference Committee, said ” the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill is now ripe and ready to be transmitted to Mr President for his assent”.
The Peace Corps boss also stressed that the harmonised Bill has finally put to rest all the needless controversies bordering on which organisation’s bill was passed by the National Assembly, adding that the clause which suggested the sister formation, National Unity and Peace Corps was outrightly rejected.
Akoh, however, dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the new agency is a duplication of other para-military agencies; saying “no uniformed body today in Nigeria does the jobs we are meant to do.”
The Commandant also made clarifications on the N40,000 payment for the recruitment exercise, adding that the funds were meant for training and kits for the recruits.

THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD HAS WARNED THEIR PASTORS NEVER TO PARTAKE IN MMM

The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has warned its Pastors and members against participating in the ponzi scheme, Mavrodi mondial Moneybox, MMM and others like it.
In a memo issued by the General Secretary of the church, Pastor Johnson Odesola, to all Pastors in charge of regions and provinces, it said any pastor or member found participating in any of the ponzi schemes or found to have used the churches name or platform to participate in any of the schemes would be vehemently dealt with.
The memo which said the doctrine of the church does not support “get rich quick schemes” equally said that its members had no course participating in any of the ponzis giving that “God is and remains our supplier…”
“Please be informed that the doctrine of the church does not support get rich quick schemes, gambling, betting, etc in any form.
“God is and remains our supplier by the application of biblical principles of working diligently with our hands.

Recall that last week, founder, Apostle Johnson Suleiman of the Omega Fire Ministries, OFM, Worldwide, fired one of his Pastors, Joseph Aiyedun, for using the ministry’s name to participate in popular money doubling scheme, Mavrodi Mondial Movement, MMM.
The pastor was fired after many investigations were conducted and ascertained that he did not only participate in the scheme but also used the churches name to register with the scheme.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Administration of the church, Pastor David Apelorioye, it said, “The management of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide is using this medium to react to a news making the rounds on the social media regarding one of his pastors who used the ministry’s name to register for the MMM scheme.”
“Ordinarily, the church would not have reacted to the story because of falsehoods being published regularly by some blogs and news websites whose credibility are questionable.” “But after a thorough investigation by the church authority, it was established that one of our branch pastors in Aba, Pastor Joseph Aiyedun, indeed participated in the scheme.”
“The church authority decided to expel Pastor Aiyedun not because he registered for the ponzi scheme but because he involved the ministry’s name in the satanic adventure.”
“And we discovered that he was able to use the ministry’s name because he had access to the account of his branch which itself is against the church’s guidelines and a fraud likely to have been carried out in connivance with the branch’s account department. We are still investigating further to unravel the whole activities.”
“Of the OFM’s 200 churches in Nigeria alone and its 800 branches in 51 nations of the world, it is possible for any of the pastors to go astray and be corrected. In fact, we discovered that Pastor Aiyedun, including some other members of OFM, did the scheme before our father, Apostle Johnson Suleman made the warning last year against MMM, but Pastor Aiyedun was fired because he did it with the ministry’s name as the OFM rules forbid any of its pastors access to the account except people in the account department.”
Following the Omega Fire Ministries’pastor’s saga, many churches have become worried and anxious that many of their members and or pastors may have or are still involved in the ponzi schemes reigning in Nigeria.
Recall also that many Nigerians invested in MMM before it blocked all its participants access to requesting for financial help, known as Get Help (GH) before the yuletide celebrations. The reason it gave was that it wanted to prevent a situation whereby many would rush to GH, thereby over-working the system. Although it made a come-back after a month as it said it would by unfreezing the frozen access (Mavros), up till now, many of the participants are still complaining that they have not been able to get help.

The Buhari Support Organizations (BSO) has cautioned the Directorate of State Security (DSS) against arresting founder and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleiman.

It said it does not want the DSS or the Federal Government to be drawn into a religious battle.

Governor Ayodele Fayose had told newsmen in Ekiti State that he foiled attempt by operatives of the DSS to arrest Apostle Suleiman who is in the state for a crusade.

The alleged attempt to arrest Apostle Suleiman might not be unconnected with a video that gone viral in which he urged his church members to kill any herdsman that come near his church because he received information of plans to assassinate him.

Deputy Director of the BSO, Chief Blessing Agbomhere, in a press statement issued in Benin City said any attempt to arrest Suleiman could cause a lot of setback for the Buhari's administration.

Chief Agbomhere said Apostle Suleiman spoke the mind of the christian community over his comments on the killings in Southern Kaduna.

He warned the DSS against causing crisis in the country and urge then to focus on stopping the menace of herdsmen in parts of the country.

His words, "Every body has a right of free speech, any attempt to arrest him can cause a lot of set back for the Buhari administration. As a supporter of the president and a believer in this administration, I don't want the presidency or the DSS to be drawn into a religious battle.

"Every body is angry about the killings in Kaduna.  Everybody is entitled to expressed his feelings including those following the leader. Apostle Suleiman is a leader of the Christian community. They should focus on how to stop the menace of herdsmen in Nigeria because arresting Suleiman is like the Federal Government encouraging the activities of the herdsmen.

"The DSS and the Federal Government should not cause anarchy in this country. The arrest of Suleiman is capable of putting Nigeria into crisis. That will pitch the Christian community against the Federal Government which we will not like.

"We hope the attempted arrest is a lie. If it is a lie we urge the DSS to issue a statement to disown the alleged arrest."

The recent release from a British prison of a former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori has since it happened last month attracted comments from across the nation. While many especially Deltans were happy about the development, analysts from other parts of Nigeria were virtually disgusted over what they saw as a sheepish people turning an ex-convict into their hero.
Many of my avid readers and friends have wondered aloud why I made no comment on the subject. I must confess that for once I found a topic that I was not quite comfortable with because I couldn’t agree with the idea of eulogizing the former governor in view of what he was alleged to have done just as I couldn’t agree with those who felt that his release was not worth celebrating by those whose lives he touched. Luckily, in my visit to Asaba last week, I was well entertained by an interesting debate between some politicians who were on the opposite sides of the divide.

Emerging reports suggests that Donald Trump’s new administration has deleted some of Barack Obama’s pet policies from the White House website. the phrases ‘LGBT’ rights and ‘climate change.’
Chicago Tribune reports that The issues page of Trump’s White House offered no new plans or policies but rather a rehash of many of his most prominent campaign promises – a signal to the nation that Trump, more pragmatic than ideological, plans to implement at least the key guideposts of his campaign vision.
His policies include plans to both withdraw from and renegotiate major trade deals, grow the nation’s military and increase cyber-security capabilities, build a wall at the nation’s southern border and deport undocumented immigrants who have committed violent crimes.
Several social issues disappeared from the WhiteHouse.gov site Friday, including a page dedicated to LGBT rights. A report on the Labor Department’s website on LGBT workers rights was also removed.
Advocates for the LGBT community have worried about what a Trump administration would mean for the progress made on equality issues under President Obama. As a candidate, President Trump said he is opposed to gay marriage and Vice President Pence has taken strong anti-gay rights stances throughout his political career and while it’s standard for the new administration to update the White House’s official website with its agenda as part of the transition it is notable that the Trump administration did not choose to include anything about the LGBT community.

SWAZILAND GOVERNMENT ORDER TO TEACH ONLY CHRISTIANS IN 2017 ACADEMIC CALENDAR.

Swaziland’s schools opened for the new academic year on Tuesday under new government orders to teach only Christianity, a move criticised by opponents as fuelling intolerance of Muslims.
Officials said that old text books were being replaced with new ones that mention only the Bible, and that schools were required to submit a list of qualified religious studies teachers ahead of the start of term.
“Other religions will not be offered at primary and high school level,” said Pat Muir, a top education ministry official, adding that the policy sought to avoid confusing pupils.
“At tertiary level they will be able to make a decision to learn about other religions,” he said.
Some surveys put Swaziland’s Muslim population as high as 10 percent, but the US Department of State in 2015 put the figure at about two percent.
Many Swazis combine Christianity with indigenous beliefs, and religious freedoms are written into the country’s 2005 constitution.
The education ministry last week instructed all head teachers to ensure that the syllabus would not mention any religion other than Christianity, including Islam and Judaism.
Sahid Matsebula, a Swazi-born Muslim who works for a mosque near the capital Mbabane, said the government’s policy could worsen religious friction in the southern African nation.
“What plan does the government have in place for our children who are not Christian?” he told AFP.
“They will be taught one thing at home and taught something else at school.”
‘Discrimination’
The US State Department’s International Religious Freedom Report said some schools have long sought to prevent Muslim pupils from leaving early for Friday prayers.
It also said some Christian groups “discriminated against non-Christian religious groups, especially in rural areas where people generally held negative views on Islam.”
The new education policy comes after public complaints over Asian and Muslim migration into the country led parliament to set up a commission of enquiry last year.
Some illegal migrants have since been deported, and Minister of Commerce and Trade Jabulani Mabuza told parliament that a law making it harder for foreigners to set up businesses in Swaziland was in the pipeline.
Church leaders in Swaziland welcomed the Christianity-only syllabus.
“Christianity is the bedrock religion on which this country was built,” said Stephen Masilela, president of the Swaziland Conference of Churches.
Swaziland, with a population of about 1.2 million, has been ruled by King Mswati III, Africa’s last absolute monarch, since 1986.
The country suffers dire poverty and has struggled to lift its economy, and has faced international criticism that the government stifles dissent, jails its opponents and denies workers’ rights.

NEW IMO STATE GOVERNMENT AIRLINE.

A maiden flight of Imo Air owned by the Imo State Government, Tuesday, landed at the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport Owerri with the first set of passengers, and with the State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, members of the State Executive Council and thousands of Imo people at the airport to celebrate the feat.
The 140-Seater plane with Imo Air written boldly on the body landed at the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport at exactly 11.42 pm, and is being operated for the State by DANA Airline because according to the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha the State has not got the license to operate full – blown airline.

In his speech at the Airport to herald the arrival of the Maiden Imo Air, Governor Rochas Okorocha said it has been his dream and sincere desire to position Imo State on the fast lane of development, prosperity and growth, adding that he won’t rest on his oars until that dream is realized.
Governor Okorocha also said that Imo is not affected by the much-talked about recession in the Country because some people might wonder why the State should dabble into Airline business in time of recession explaining that the State has cleared arrears of Pension and has paid Salaries upto December 2016, and is about to commence the payment of January Salary.
His words, “this is a happy moment in the State. The aim of going into the Air business is because I want to drive traffic to Imo State as Imo is genuinely becoming the fastest developing City outside Abuja and Lagos. For this, there is need for more airlines to cushion the effects of high traffic coming to the State”.
The governor continued “Imo government does not have an operating air license. So we needed to partner with a good and qualified airline operator. Hence, the choice of DANA Air because of its proven track record and sincerity of purpose. The Imo Air will be operated by DANA and we have a contract of ten years with them. We have five of this aircraft and the first one has just landed and four other ones will start operation in few weeks time”.
The governor explained, “The International Cargo Airport will soon kick-start to supplement the efforts of Imo Air. In our pursuit of making Imo better, Imo International Cargo Airport will soon commence operations. Work is going on smoothly and by April God’s willing the fastest International Cargo Plane will arrive Imo State. This, we believe will help drive up commercial activities in the State. Imo is a hub for business and there is no better place to invest now in Nigeria than Imo State as inspite of the recession the State is still flourishing and progressing because of its visionary leadership”.
He informed that Imo Air will have 10% discount to all Imo indigenes flying the Plane and the operation will equally employ over 30% of Imo sons and daughters to help in the management of the Imo Air”.

APOSTLE JOHNSON SULEMAN SPEAKS ABOUT THE APC GOVERNMENT IN NIGERIA.

General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has reflected on the unfolding events in the polity and the “crass abuse of power by the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), ongoing genocide in Southern Kaduna”.
Apostle Suleman also raised the alarm that the nation was sliding into fascism and official terrorism.
He observed that, “the double standards adopted by President Muhammadu Buhari led APC government in handling state matters, especially his silence on the genocide in Southern Kaduna has continued to fuel mutual recriminations and distrust among the diverse ethnic and religious groups in the country”.

Suleman noted that, “a close look at unfolding events reveal that some members of the president’s kitchen cabinet who are notorious for their hatred for Christians are pushing the country to the precipice and are determined to start a war between Christians and Muslims – a war that will irreversibly mark the end of Nigeria”.
The cleric said he was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that time was running out on Nigeria because of the way President Buhari was piloting the affairs of the nation.
According to him, “the current destruction of churches and about 49,000 houses as well as the mindless onslaught against Christians in southern Kaduna by Islamic fundamentalists disguising as Fulani herdsmen in a well choreographed acts under the watch of Governor Nasir El-Rufai and President Muhammadu Buhari, is completely unacceptable”
He pointed out that the lack of tolerance currently being witnessed was unprecedented in the history of the country but warned that, anybody who makes the church and Christians his target for destruction in 2017 will die! “God will use them as scape goats”.
Continuing, the man of God warned that if Nigeria must continue to exist as an indivisible entity, then President Buhari must come out to assure Nigerians that his administration will desist from being used as a platform for such primitive persecution and mindless killings.
“Aside the appointment of service chiefs and heads of para military organisations that is skewed in favour of the North and Muslims, even personal security and safety of key Christian figures who hold dissenting views are in danger”.
Apostle Suleman further warned, “President Buhari and his co-travellers to stop act divisiveness, marginalisation, exclusion, and palpable hatred for Christians and the body of Christ.

THE SULTAN OF SOKOTO HAS WARNED RELIGIOUS LEADERS TO STOP PREACHING HATERED IN WORSHIP CENTERS.

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has frowned at religious leaders who use places of worship to preach hate messages.
Speaking during a joint meeting with members of the Northern States Traditional Council in Kaduna, on Monday, the monarch attributed the crisis in the north to the hate messages preached by religious leaders.
According to Abubakar, “We are more worried with the use of places of religious worship to preach hatred, violence and other issues that tend to divide us rather than strengthening our unity as a people created by one God.”
Also speaking at the meeting, the Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima said for the region to attain its greatness, solution must be found to the social, economic and political challenges ravaging the North.
Shettimma, who doubles as the Northern Governors Forum, said the challenges facing the North revolve around intolerance, illiteracy and lack of unity.
He said, “Our core challenges in the North today revolve around intolerance, absence of peaceful coexistence, poverty, illiteracy and lack of unity,” he said, and expressed confidence that the meeting “is more than able to provide solutions to our problems

PROPHET ISAAC OWUSU HAS PREDICTED THE DEATH OF NIGERIA PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

Founder of Glorious Word Ministry International, Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, has predicted the death of President Muhammadu Buhari.
This is coming at a time when several clergymen across Nigeria have predicted Buhari’s death between this year and 2019.
Buhari’s death was one of the 17 2017 prophecies released by the Ghanian based prophet.
In a message titled “Pray to avert them” Bempah also predicted the deaths of a former President, a former first lady as well as a ‘great king’ in Ghana.
The clergyman also prophesied clash between Christians and Muslims, a terrorist attack in the country and a coup d’etat.

[CAN] CHRISTIANS IN THE NORTH QUESTIONED THE NIGERIA GOVERNMENT.

WORRIED by the unceasing orgy of violence against Christians in the north geo-political region of the country, the North Western zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, posed several questions to the Federal Government: “Do we still have rights to exist as a church in northern Nigeria? Is religion still part of the fundamental human rights guaranteed by the United Nations and our own Nigerian constitution? Do we have any right to practice our religion where we live? We need to be told all these things for us to know what is illegal and legal.”
Bishop David Bakare, the zonal chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, for North West, wanted the central government which is currently grappling with other security challenges in Southern Kaduna and the Boko Haram to the North East, to answer because, according to him, there appears to be a deliberate plot to annihilate the Christian community from the zone.
According to him, on January 11, 2017, “two churches were demolished in Jigawa State capital, Dutse. They included The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, and The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Renewal Ministry. These are big churches.
“The reason for the demolition was that the buildings were located in residential areas though the said buildings have been on that same position for well over 17 years.
“Besides that, there are also mosques in these same locations. How come the churches were demolished and the mosques were not demolished? Beyond this, it is important to note that five more churches have been marked for further demolition in the same location.
“The worst part of the matter is that the churches were not notified either in writing or any other form for an intended demolition. They were simply there to see caterpillars which began to demolish their churches,” Bishop Bakare narrated the plight of Christians in the North West region of the country.
According to him, if the argument that the church building were pulled down because they were located in residential areas were correct, why they demolish the residential houses attached to the churches? “There are even personal houses attached to these buildings, like the Chosen Church has three bedrooms flats. The Redeemed had another one.
“The churches were demolished alongside the residential houses. All these issues beg for answers, particularly issues that have to do with religion at a time like this in Nigeria. The Christian Association of Nigeria, particularly in the North West is worried because this same time last year, churches were demolished in Zamfara. Anglican churches, Catholic churches were demolished for similar excuses and nothing has happened and barely one year after, another set is being demolished in Jigawa.
“There is crisis going on in Southern Kaduna; who knows where and what is going to happen to who next and where. CAN in North West Nigeria is asking that should the churches in the region go extinct because we are Christiane? Do we still have rights to exist as a church in northern Nigeria?
“How come nobody is giving answers to these matters? How come its now a yearly ritual to demolish churches built with hard earned money for years. In any case, is religion still part of the fundamental human right guaranteed by the United Nations and our own Nigeria constitution? Do we have any right to practice our religion where we live? We need to be told all these things for us to know what is illegal and legal,” he said, adding “It is time to stop this yearly ritual of demolishing churches in the north west Nigeria.
“We are peace loving people. We want to live in peace and we need somebody to tell us what we have done wrong. As citizens we need to know what exactly is the reason why before demolition, during demolition after demolition, nobody is told what is happening. Uptill now, the government of Jigawa State has refused to meet the Christian leaders to discuss the matter in any form.
“These things are begging for questions and they are becoming too worrisome for us in North West Nigeria. We appeal to the authority to note that these are dangerous times that can worsen the situation that Nigeria is already going through and everybody responsible for these need to be called to order,” Bakare pleaded.

University of KATSINA HAVE BANNED EVERY RELIGIOUS AND TRIBAL ASSOCIATION IN THE SCHOOL

The management of the Umar Musa Yar’Adua University, Katsina, Katsina State, has banned every religious or tribal associations operating within the campus, except the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSN.
The school’s acting Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Sulaiman Kankara passed this notice through a circular, to students’ clubs and associations that were operating on its campus in an internal memorandum dated January 17, 2017.
Sulaiman said the new order was part of the resolutions of the institution’s management at its 59th meeting, which held on January 10, 2017.
The memo reads in part, “The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria is the only religious association allowed to operate in the university.
“All tribal and local government associations are prohibited by the university. Duly registered departmental associations should be allowed to operate, but they should observe item (I) above.”
But a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Norrison Quakers, who is a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, described the directive by the UMYU authorities as unconstitutional and one that could fuel crisis in the country.
