Manchester United has dominated English football for best part of last two decades winning 13 league titles, 2 Champions League and 1 Fifa Club World Cup as far as major titles are concerned since the modern era in English football from 1992 to date making this the most successful club in recent English football history but are they the most successful club overall ? lets find out.
After winning the 2016 FA Cup and 2017 EFL Cup Manchester united overtaken Liverpool as the most successful teams in English football as far as major trophies are concerned. (English Division 1 titles, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup). Manchester United now have 42 major titles (20 League titles, 12 FA Cups, 5 league cups, 3 Champions League and 2 FIFA Club World Cups). Liverpool on the other hand have 41 (18 league titles, 7 FA Cups, 8 League Cups, 5 European Cups, 3 UEFA Cups). If we further expand the trophy list with the likes of community shield and the UEFA Super Cup etc United out-scores Liverpool with 66-60 titles.
But we will stick with only the major trophies where United became the most successful team in English football history with 42 major titles.
